Tazewell County Genealogical and Historical Society General Meeting

The Columbian Exposition of 1893, also known as the Chicago’s World Fair, will be highlighted in a presentation by Wayne Rethford at the Tazewell County Genealogical and Historical Society general meeting on May 11, 2010. The fair produced a profound effect on architecture, the arts, and American industrial
optimism.

Though he considers himself an Okie, he currently resides in Chicago IL. He authored, along with June Skinner Sawyers, The Scots of Chicago: Quiet Immigrants and Their New Society. In addition, he maintains a blog and writes about various historical topics.

The meeting, which is open to the general public, will be held on Tuesday May 11, 2010 at the Society’s Erlicher Library, located at 719 N Eleventh St, Pekin, IL.
The program will begin promptly at 7:00 PM, with a business meeting immediately following. The building is handicapped accessible with ample parking available.
