Executive Director's Report

By Bill Fleming

The annual meeting of the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce was held on April 21st at the Pekin Country Club. Two hundred chamber members were in attendance. Outgoing board members (Charles Hanley, Roxanne Heiser, Tom Hornstein, Gregg Ratliff, and Kay Sutton) were recognized for their service, and the newly elected board members were introduced.

The board of directors also elected officers for the coming year: President, Althea Geiser; President Elect, Skip Schermerhorn; Vice President, Drew Leman; Treasurer, Tom Hornstein; and Past President, Mike Vonderheide.

Hornstein is President/COO of Excalibur Seasoning Company. He has a BS degree from Illinois State University and an MBA degree from Bradley University. He also sits on the boards of the United Way of Pekin and Pekin Insurance, and is a Peoria Notre Dame board trustee. Tom and his wife Maria have 2 children, Tom (18) and Antonio (12). In his free time Tom enjoys hunting and fishing.

Outgoing President Mike Vonderheide thanked the board, staff and volunteers for their efforts during the past year. He listed several accomplishments that were achieved, despite the poor economy.
