Hightower has been an employee of CEFCU for 29 years and previously served as the Vice President of Human Resources. In Hightower’s new role, she oversees the Human Resources, Recruitment, Payroll, Employee Benefits, and Human Resource Information Systems departments, plus their initiatives. She also provides executive-level leadership and guidance for member experience strategy, organizational training, employee development programs, and CEFCU’s corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion program. Hightower is active in the community, as she is involved with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and is a board member with the Tri-County Urban League in Peoria.   ICC NEWS: Illinois Central College Keeps Tuition Rates Flat For Third Straight Year EAST PEORIA, IL (03/18/2022) In a continuing effort to promote student success and alleviate financial burdens, Illinois Central College will maintain a flat in-district tuition rate for Academic Year 2022-2023 at $155 per credit hour. Out-of-district, out-of-state and international student tuition rates will also not increase. The unchanged tuition rate for semesters Fall 22, Spring 23, and Summer 23 was approved by the Illinois Central College Board of Trustees on Thursday, March 17. The flat rate is the third consecutive year in which ICC has not raised the per credit hour cost.   ICC NEWS: Illinois Central College signs Transfer Guarantee Agreement with Southern Illinois University Carbondale EAST PEORIA, IL (03/22/2022) Illinois Central College signed a new transfer admission guarantee agreement with Southern Illinois University Carbondale to participate in the Saluki Step Ahead Program on March 22 via a virtual signing ceremony. Following graduation with an associate degree from ICC, students can go on to complete their SIU bachelor's degrees online and at a lower cost in six academic programs: accounting, business administration, criminology and criminal justice, health care management, psychology and radiologic sciences.   Paratransit vehicle grants available through IDOT   The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that applications are now being accepted for grants to provide public transportation providers with paratransit vehicles. Municipalities and local governments, as well as nonprofit agencies providing specialized transportation to seniors or individuals with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.   “Public transportation is an essential service throughout the state in rural, suburban and urban communities,” said Illinois Transportation Secretary Omer Osman. “These grants – and the paratransit vehicles they provide – are an important part of our continued efforts to ensure everyone has safe, equitable access to the transportation they depend on.” The deadline to apply is May 2.   Through its Consolidated Vehicle Procurem

  OSF Occupational Health   Drug Testing Update  OSF Occupational Health is updating hours for walk-in drug testing. Walk-in drug testing will not be performed after 3 p.m. at any of our Peoria clinics. ​​​ For walk-in drug testing between 3 - 6 p.m., please visit an OSF OnCall Urgent Care location. See here for locations. Additionally, OSF Occupation Health continues to experience supply chain issues due to COVID. Drug tests will continue to be sent out until further notice.  March 8th marks International Women's Day and the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce would like to recognize our current President, Baylee Gambetti, for her outstanding achievements and community commitment. Baylee Gambetti is currently a broker of RE/MAX Traders, Unlimited Ladendorf and Gambetti. However, she may be better known as "Pekin's Biggest Cheerleader".     Baylee serves on (or as)  the Pekin Area Association of Realtors Board of Directors, Tazewell County Children's Advocacy Board, Pekin YWCA Board of Directors, Pekin Union Mission Trustee, Strategic Planning Commision Task Force Pekin YWCA, and the Strategic Planning Commision with the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce.       ICC College for Kids Summer Program Registration Now Open   Keep your children learning and experiencing new adventures this summer at Illinois Central College by piquing their interests with the summer enrichment program College for Kids. Registration is now open for the two summer sessions and space is limited. Virtual STEAM camps are also available.   College for Kids features fun and educational courses for students entering grades 4-12. Classes are designed to stimulate creativity, promote curiosity, and encourage engagement. A variety of courses are offered to fit children's interests including cooking, computer design and programming, balloon artistry, public speaking, leadership skills, chess, drawing, health careers, and more.   The June session runs from June 13-30, and the July session from July 11-28.   Tazewell County Begins Broadband Internet Initiative  The Tazewell County Broadband Planning Committee plans to stimulate county economy through strategic broadband investments.  Pekin, IL- The Tazewell Broadband Planning Committee is promoting an important survey. Together, they are working to stimulate Tazewell County’s economy through strategic broadband investments, mapping, and planning. Answers to this survey will help identify areas where broadband Internet access is unreliable or unavailable and what the people of Tazewell County need broadband to do for them on a daily basis. These results will help our committee and County leaders determine the areas that need additional support in providing citizens with the broadband capacity needed to grow our economy, both locally and statewide.   Center for Prevention of Abuse Awarded $50,000 Grant From Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois Funding focuses on interpersonal violence prevention education for tri-county students Peoria, Ill. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois has awarded the Center for Prevention of Abuse (CFPA) with a Community Partner Grant of $50,000 for Violence Prevention Education services. The grant will help fund three Prevention Education programs including relationship abuse, sexual abuse, and bullying.
