Illinois American Water encourages customers to participate in the Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Residents are encouraged to drop off their unwanted medications at approved collection sites so they can be incinerated, which is the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recommended approach for pharmaceutical disposal. Flushing medications down the toilet and throwing them in the trash are discouraged. The event is Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, from 10 AM to 2 PM. 2018 was again a very successful season of concerts on the Peoria Riverfront! Ticket sales for the 3 of the largest music series (Spring Fling, Tailgate N’ Tallboys, River City Soul Fest) in central Illinois topped over 40,000 tickets sold! Over 30 states were represented at the concerts this summer, with an increasing percentage of “out-of-towners” coming in to enjoy the festivities. According to economic impact calculations from the Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, the 10 dates brought in an estimated $5,114,796 (MILLION) in to the local economy.
