Student Health Initiative Program hosted by Hopedale Medical Complex

Tremont Middle School students will soon begin a Student Health Initiative Program “SHIP” hosted by Hopedale Medical Complex. The program promotes healthy habits for middle school students and their families. SHIP is designed to engage students in healthy habits during their formative years in order to prevent chronic disease and health issues, and it is free for participants as part of HMC’s community health and wellness outreach. Throughout April students will cultivate healthy habits and learn more about healthy choices.
SHIP is part of the Healthy Schools, Healthy Kids Collaborative which promotes healthy choices and improving youth health through partnerships with local educators, the Tri-County Health Departments, and community advocates. The Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network awarded HMC a 2018 Disease Management/Population Health Grant for HMC’s community-wide wellness program including the Healthy Schools, Healthy Kids Collaborative and the community garden project located at White Fence Estate in Hopedale, IL.
