Venezia Ribbon Cutting

Representatives from the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce and the Village of North Pekin welcomed Venezia Italian Bistro to the area with a ribbon cutting. Antonio and Vito and their family and friends joined them in the ribbon cutting ceremony. The fine-dining establishment is located in the former Chateau on the Lake near Rt 29/ Rt 98 in North Pekin. They are open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Everything is made from scratch and prepared fresh with fine, authentic Italian ingredients. It's all cooked by Italian chef's from Venice, Italy.  They have private rooms for up to 150 people, lunch specials Monday thru Friday, a full bar and catering is available. Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
