Illinois Central College Art Program Hosts 2019 Portfolio Day Event for Area High School Juniors and Seniors January 25
Area high school juniors and seniors are invited to showcase
their original works of art in a juried show for a chance to win prizes in the
2019 Illinois Central College Art Portfolio Day, sponsored by the ICC Arts and
Behavioral Sciences Department Art Program.
Students are invited to enter up to three pieces of original
artwork that have been completed within the past two years. Both
two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork will be accepted. Two-dimensional
artwork should be matted and must have proper wire or hooks for hanging; no
works will be accepted with wire or string taped to the back.
The Portfolio Day event takes place January 25 from 3 pm to
5 pm in Gallery 131D, located in the Academic Building on the East Peoria
Campus. Students will be matched with an ICC art faculty member, who will review
and provide feedback on students’ portfolios. One piece from each student will
be chosen to be displayed in Gallery 131D.
All artwork chosen on January 25 will be displayed in the
gallery from January 30 through February 20. A public opening reception will be
held in Gallery 131D on January 30 from 6 to 7:30 pm. At the reception, awards
will be distributed for outstanding work from the exhibit. Refreshments will be
served, and attendees will be able to learn more about the ICC art program,
including tours of art classrooms and other galleries on campus.
Artwork in the student portfolio show must be displayed for
the duration of the show and cannot be removed before the show is taken down by
the ICC Art Program. All students (or teachers) are responsible for picking up
students’ artwork from the gallery on February 20, 21 or 22 between 3:30 and 5
p.m.
Information about the event was sent to area high school art
teachers. Students interested in participating should contact their art
teachers to obtain an entry form. Copies of the brochure, entry forms and other
information mailed to area high schools is also available online at ArtsAtICC.com/portfolioday.
