The Pekin Hospital League - Annual Holiday Magic Gift Show

The Pekin Hospital League will hold its annual Holiday Magic Gift Show on Saturday, November 6, 2010 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. inside the Pekin Hospital Lobby.  The show will feature many beautiful handmade items, floral arrangements, jewelry, toiletries, stationery, Fannie May candy, baby items, toys and Vera Bradley items.  A large variety of baked goods, candies, and many other specialty food items will be available in our Pantry.  The Pantry will be located near the restaurant in the lobby.

A raffle will be held with tickets selling for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.  Tickets may be purchased from League members before the show, at Nearly Nu and at the Pekin Hospital Gift Shop.  Raffle tickets will also be available the day of the show with the drawing being held at 3:00 p.m. that day.  Raffle items include: a $1,785.00 14K yellow gold sapphire bracelet from Udry Jewelers, an $800.00 handmade quilt from Peddler’s Way Quilt Co. & Lost Creek Quilters, a $350.00 gift certificate  towards the purchase of four tires from Eastside Tire & Auto Store (Goodyear), a $150.00 overnight stay and dinner at the Par-a-dice Hotel/Casino, a $100.00 Walmart gift card, a $100.00 Steger Furniture gift certificate, a $150.00 floral arrangement, a $100.00 Vera Bradley Weekender, and a $75.00 hand painted wooden Christmas plate from Pekin Hospital League.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
