The Pekin Community High School Student Council is doing something new this year!   On Sunday, October 28, we will be hosting a “
Haunted Hallways” event.  
What is it?
  • An event in which local businesses and school clubs “sponsor” a table as children trick or treat through the hallways of Pekin High.  
  • The organization is responsible for decorating their table and providing enough treats for about 300 kids.
  • The organization is free to advertise at the table as well.
  • Student Council will have concessions and games available in the cafeteria.
  • The trick or treating portion of the event is free to the children.
  • A table and chairs will be provided for you.

When?
  • Sunday, October 28th from 4 to 6 p.m.
  • Set-up can begin at 3 p.m.

Please let us know by October 17th if you would like to participate and how many individuals will be there to represent you.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
