Shade-Lohmann Bridge to reopen Oct. 23

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that the eastbound span of the Shade-Lohmann Bridge is scheduled to reopen Tuesday, Oct. 23, weather permitting.

Traffic on the bridge that carries Interstate 474 over the Illinois River will be restricted to one lane in each direction as the temporary barrier wall is removed and final pavement markings are installed.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
