BBB: Exclusive Business News and Tips TORCH EDITION

Exclusive Business News and Tips TORCH EDITION

Many thanks to you for making the 19th Annual Torch Awards a HUGE success!

This was our biggest year yet with 60 nominated businesses and nearly 200 people in attendance. The Torch Award is designed to promote not only the importance of ethical business practices, but the willingness and efforts made by outstanding businesses to ensure that our marketplace remains fair and honorable. Each recipient has exemplified excellence in ethical business practices.

Special Guests

We were fortunate to have two very special guests: Zach McAllister, a central Illinois native, from the Dodgers organization and Homer from our very own Peoria Chiefs.

The Winners!

Category 1: CT Gabbert Construction & Remodeling
Category 2: Sherman's
Category 3: Avanti's
Jeff Bell Customer Service Award: Spencer Schubach of Fox Services Express
Partners in Trust: Alpha Media
Truth in Advertising: Academy of Screenprinting & Awards
Community Impact Award: Dream Center Peoria
Patron of Integrity: Tom Simpson of AAA Confidential Security Corp

What are these awards you say? The category is split up by the number of employees in the company. Each business must be nominated and fill out the questionnaire to send to our judges. Judges are chosen from past winners or by our team at the BBB. Category one is 1 to 24 employees, category two is 25 to 180 employees, and category three is any company with over 181 employees.

The Jeff Bell Customer Service Award is open to any Accredited Business to recognize an employee who goes above and beyond in the area of customer service. Partners in Trust is awarded a local media organization that helps us spread the information from the BBB. Truth in Advertising means that the business excels in several medias for advertising and advertise honestly. The Community Impact Award is new this year that will go to an Accredited Charity for their work in the community and meet the BBB's charity guidelines. The Patron of Integrity is chosen by the CEO/President to recognize one particularly outstanding business person that has helped the BBB's mission.

Be on the lookout for the opportunity to nominate a business for next year starting in August!
