Tazewell Jaycees Open House

The Tazewell County Jaycees will be hosting a membership information open house at the Avanti’s Dome in Pekin on Monday, November 15th from 6 pm – 8 pm.  Individuals ages 18-40 who are interested in joining a growing social and service organization are encouraged to attend.  Food will be provided and adult beverages will be available to purchase.
The Jaycees will also be running a membership special for that night only.  Dues will be slashed by $10 for individuals and $25 for couples. 
The Tazewell County Jaycees run a variety of projects in the community, such as monthly trivia nights, a rotten egg hunt, and an upcoming triathlon.  The Jaycees also offer many programs for personal and professional development, such as an upcoming financial planning workshop.  They have plenty of fun, too, so please stop by the open house to learn more!

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
