PEKIN MAIN STREET PRESENTS CHRISTMAS ON COURT

A HOLIDAY BUSINESS OPEN HOUSE AND LUMINARY WALK
Pekin Main Street presents Christmas on Court: a Holiday Business Open House and Luminary Walk on Friday, December 4, 2009, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in downtown Pekin. Pekin’s downtown will be transformed into a Victorian Christmas, with over 1000 candlelight luminaries lining the streets and Courthouse Square. Visitors can observe the sparkling holiday decorations while riding in a horse-drawn carriage; carriage rides will start at Pekin Community Bank, 601 Court Street ($1.00 per person) and Advanced Medical Transport (AMT), 418 Elizabeth Street. Children are also invited to visit Santa Claus inside Pekin Community Bank. The sounds of the holidays will be in the air with strolling carolers from the community and area schools, delighting visitors with a variety of festive holiday tunes. Visitors can also view the recently hand painted holiday scenes painted by the PCHS art classes on the storefronts of 13 downtown businesses. Businesses will be open for Christmas shopping, dining, sales, and open houses.

Businesses will offer complimentary treats and refreshments, door prizes, entertainment, discounts, and promotions. A list of participating businesses, with their address and giveaways/offerings, will be provided that evening. New this year to the Christmas Walk, the candlelight luminaries can be sponsored to honor or in memory of a loved one or as a special thanks to someone and “Let a Life Shine the Night” for a warm festive glow during the Christmas on Court event. Luminary sponsor form can be found at http://www.pekinmainstreet.com/, Pekin Chamber office and other downtown businesses. Also new this year, a Holiday Bazaar as we have invited non-profits, independent retailers (Lia Sophia, Tastefully Simple, Usborne Books, Scentsy Candles, etc.) and local area businesses selling handmade/crafted items to set up at various business locations throughout downtown to sell their product. A complete list will be posted on the Pekin Main Street website and available to attendees that evening at each participating location.

Transport, CEFCU and Rotary Club of Pekin along with the downtown participating businesses.
