Pekin Hospital Names Assistant Vice President of Nursing
Pekin Hospital is pleased to announce that Sherry Thompson, RN, BS, CCRN, has been named Assistant Vice President of Nursing.
She received a BS in Health Administration from the University of St. Francis at Joliet, as well as an RN degree from Illinois Central College. She is also a Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse.
Thompson has been employed by Pekin Hospital since 1984 and has held a variety of positions including staff nurse, house supervisor, and nurse director of ICU/CCU. She has over 10 years of management experience.
Jo Ellen Patterson, RN, MS, Vice President of Nursing adds, “She is very well respected by the medical staff, her peers, and the staff. She is a strong patient and employee advocate, and I am looking forward to working with Sherry in her new position. Sherry brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to this role.”
As Assistant Vice President of Nursing, Sherry will perform a wide range of administrative responsibilities for overseeing the continual flow of patient care services provided at Pekin Hospital under the direction of the Vice President of Nursing. She will also be involved in establishing objectives for providing excellent quality, clinical and economical healthcare services.
Thompson is a member of Illinois Central College’s Nursing Advisory Committee and Rep. Mike Smith’s Healthcare Advisory Committee.
In her spare time, she enjoys boating, reading, and traveling.
