Goodwill Honors Employees and Achiever
March 2, 2010 – Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois has named its Employee of the Year and Achiever of the Year. The awards were presented during Goodwill’s annual Employee Recognition Event held on February 28 at Wildlife Prairie Park.
Achiever of the Year was awarded to Greg Stevenson. Stevenson is a resident of Goodwill’s General Wayne A. Downing Home for Veterans. According to Cris Mugrage, Veterans’ Services Coordinator, “Greg has worked hard and has regained a sense of pride and purpose in his life.” Stevenson was recently the subject of a story in the Peoria Journal Star that chronicled his struggles and journey back to a productive life.
Employee of the Year was awarded to Matt Kelly. Kelly is the manager of Goodwill’s Kewanee store. He was nominated by several of his employees and is known for his compassion and his dedication to Goodwill’s core values. Patty Fuchs, President & CEO of Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois said, “Matt embodies what we look for from someone in a leadership role with Goodwill.”
The President’s Award, an honor not bestowed every year, was also given out. Christine Johnson, Goodwill’s Director of Human Resources, accepted this award. According to Fuchs, this award “commemorates exceptional professional growth.”
