Free Colorectal Screening Scheduled for March 19

(March 3,2010)—In recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Methodist Medical Center will partner with Mid-Illini Surgical Associates, and the American Cancer Society for the fifth annual Colorectal Community Screening on Friday, March 19, 2010.

This free community wide screening event will be held at the Methodist Atrium building at 900 West Main Street in Peoria from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For those with limited time, a drive-through lane will be provided in front of the Atrium building during the screening hours.

Attendees will receive a free home colon screening test kit. The home test kit checks for blood in the stool and is completed in the privacy of your home. The kit is then returned to Methodist for a free analysis. Each person and their physician will be notified of the test results.

Representatives of Mid Illini Surgical Associates, Methodist and the Cancer Society will be on hand to provide and answer questions.

Colorectal Cancer is the third most common cancer found in men and women in this country and is the second leading cancer killer in the U.S.

No appointment is necessary.
