Delta Upgrades Aircraft to CRJ’s at Peoria International Airport

The Metropolitan Airport Authority of Peoria (MAAP) is pleased to announce that *Delta Airlines is upgrading its aircraft to the Bombardier CRJ200 for service from the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport (PIA) to the Minneapolis - St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Detroit Metro Airport (DTW).

The Saab/Fairchild 340, a 34-seat turboprop, is the current aircraft used for both daily flights to MSP and for the morning flight to DTW. The 50-seat CRJ’s will be in service by April 7, 2010.

“This upgrade is great news for our passengers, especially frequent business travelers,” stated Gene Olson, PIA Director of Airports. “These jets are faster, larger and more comfortable - making a better overall experience for our customers who are flying to Detroit and Minneapolis. In addition, it makes Peoria an all-jet city.”

The upgrade adds nearly 50 seats a day to PIA connections to these two hubs, which together provide a gateway to over 300 cities, including nearly 50 international destinations.
