Pekin Public Library Announces New Youth Services Manager
Pekin Public Library is pleased to announce the new Youth Services Manager for the library, Julie Nutt.
Julie has assumed the duties of Mary Alyce Hofsess, former Head of Children’s Services, who retired in December 2009. Julie has been with the library since January 22, 2008, first working in Circulation and Adult Reference, then moving to Youth Services in June 2008. Julie earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with special certification in K-12 education, from Monmouth College. She plans to pursue a Master's Degree in either Library Science or Juvenile Literature in 2011. Julie's goals include implementing more regularly scheduled programming, such as "Family Activity Hour" one Saturday per month; showing of a new-release family movie once a month; and year-round story time for pre-schoolers and toddlers. Her main focus, however, will be keeping the library's children's collection up-to-date and relevant to today's youth.
