Methodist Service League Presents $117,000 Gift

(February 22, 2010)--The Methodist Medical Center Service League has presented a check for $117,000 to Methodist President and CEO Michael Bryant. Bryant accepted the check from Dorothy Swirmicky, Service League Treasurer and Kathy MacKay, Service League President.

The money will be applied toward the purchase of a new mobile mammography unit for the Breast Services Department at Methodist. The mobile mammography van enables Methodist to provide breast health assessments in surrounding areas that do not have easy access to mammography. Methodist has the only mobile mammography service in central Illinois. The total cost of the replacement unit will be $600,000, which will be raised and contributed by the Service League over several years. Current balance in the fund to purchase the replacement mobile mammography van is $375,000.

More than 100 Service League volunteers contributed more than 8,000 hours of their time and service in 2009 at the hospital Gift shop, The November Gift Show, and various other fundraising endeavors to benefit Methodist Medical Center patients and their families.

The Service League’s gift was presented during the League’s Annual Spring Luncheon held February 18, 2010 at Mt. Hawley Country Club.
