UnityPoint Health Ribbon Cutting

UnityPoint Health® is proud to announce a new urgent care clinic is now open at UnityPoint Health – Pekin East. Pekin First Care will be open Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm and Saturday-Sunday, 9am-3pm at 3591 Griffin Avenue, Suite A, Pekin Illinois.
Representatives from the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Pekin held a ribbon cutting ceremony as part of the grand opening celebration.
“We’re very excited to be expanding our First Care model in Pekin. We are committed to serving the people in our community by providing outstanding health care. Urgent care is a crucial service we offer to ensure urgent but non-life-threatening emergencies receive immediate attention. Our Pekin hospital campus offers an urgent care clinic, but we wanted to provide an additional location for added convenience and an enhanced patient experience for the Pekin community,” says Eric Rahn, Director of UnityPoint Health First Care, Express Care, Primary Care, MDVIP, and Junction Medical.
Seth Van Heukelom, DO is the lead physician for Pekin First Care. He will be accepting walk-in and primary care patients due to First Care’s open access model. UnityPoint Health’s First Care clinics can see patients for both walk-in urgent needs and serve patients as their primary care provider.
“Dr. Van Heukelom brings a wealth of experience in osteopathic medicine and patient-centered care. We are happy to welcome a dedicated and compassionate physician into the UnityPoint Health family,” says Rahn.
A graduate from A.T. Still University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Van Heukelom completed his residency with UnityPoint Health – Methodist’s Family Medicine Residency Program of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria as a Clinical Associate. Dr. Van Heukelom is specialized in a wide variety of cardiac life support certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation and Pediatric Advance Life Support.
“We’re really looking forward to how this new clinic will provide exceptional immediate care close to our patients’ homes,” says Rahn.
Pekin First Care, now located in the medical office building UnityPoint Health – Pekin East, shares the same facilities as Primary Care, Pediatrics, Radiology, Podiatry, and Lab Services for added convenience and efficient patient care coordination.
Illnesses and injuries treated by UnityPoint Health urgent care clinics include fever, cold, flu, infections, sprains, strains, small bone fractures, skin rashes, and so much more. To schedule an appointment call (309) 353-6301.
