PHILHARMONIC CHORALE, IN RESIDENCE AT ILLINOIS CENTRAL COLLEGE, PRESENTS HOLIDAY CONCERT DECEMBER 2

The Philharmonic Chorale, in residence at Illinois Central College, presents its holiday concert on Sunday, December 2 at 2:30 pm in the ICC Performing Arts Center, located on the East Peoria Campus.

Music will include works by Stephen Paulus, Felix Mendelssohn, Dan Forrest and Irving Berlin, as well as traditional carols and seasonal selections.

Walter Stout, ICC adjunct faculty member in music, will also join Philharmonic accompanist Carol Spayer on two arrangements for four-hand piano.

                This Philharmonic Chorale is supported as an in residence ensemble by the Arts at ICC, which has a rich history of enhancing the arts community and expanding education beyond the classroom. Arts at ICC presents more than 500 exhibits, performances, lectures, rehearsals, meetings, master classes, clinics, seminars, receptions, orientations, forums, auditions and tournaments annually.

Tickets are $12 for the general public and $10 for students and senior citizens. Tickets can be purchased online at ArtsAtICC.com and are also available at the ICC Performing Arts Center Box Office in person or by phone at (309) 694-5136.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
