OSF Center For Health - Pekin Opens

A large crowd of well-wishers attended the Blessing and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the OSF Center for Health - Pekin.  The new state-of-the-art facility s located in East Court Village at 3422-A Court Street.  Sister Judith Ann Duvall, O.S.F., the Chairperson of the Board of OSF HealthCare System welcomed everyone and cut the ribbon.

Other speakers included Dr. Charles Dennis, the Senior Vice President, OSF Medical Group, Central Illinois Region, and Dr. Mike Cruz, Interim Regional CEO and President of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Monsignor Michael Bliss led the Blessing Ceremony and several hymns were sung by the OSF Choir. 

Mayor John McCabe and representatives from the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce joined with the OSF representatives for the ribbon cutting.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
