2017 Chamber Annual Meeting

The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual meeting at the Pekin Country Club on Monday, April 3.  One hundred and seventy people, representing 63 businesses were in attendance.  The evening included a reception followed by a short business meeting.

During the meeting the recently elected directors were introduced: Chris Deverman, Deverman Advertising; Bryan Steger, Steger's Furniture; and, Katelyn Tassart, OX Paperboard Illinois.

The board of directors also elected officers for the coming year: Becky Saban, BodyWealth Massage, President; Scott Kriegsman, Elliff, Dancey & Bosich, Vice President; Crystal Elliott, UnityPoint Health-Pekin, Treasurer; and, John Franks, Peoria Limousine, Past President.

Ben Taylor, the executive director of the U.S. Chamber's Midwest regional office spoke to the audience about pro-business legislative issues and some of the actions of the new administration.

For nearly 124 years the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce has represented the business interests and promotion the commercial growth of the community.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
