Velde Ford and PCHS To Raise $$

Velde Ford and Pekin High School are partnering on Friday, September 7th at Pekin High School’s first home football game, for Ford’s Drive 4 UR School event. At this important event, members of the local community can support Pekin Community High School simply by taking a test drive in a brand new Ford vehicle! 

For every test drive taken, Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to Pekin High School.  In total, the community can help raise up to $6,000 for the school; an amount that will be beneficial to the students! This fundraising event is a unique way to fill some of the schools funding gaps.

Date: Friday, September 7th
10am - 2pm at Velde Ford, 2200 N. Eighth Street
Starting at 4pm at Pekin High School’s Pillar Entrance/Circle Drive
Continuing during the Freshmen & Varsity football games

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
