Inspired by IndyXmas, a successful talent recruitment
event held in Indianapolis in 2014, GP Homecoming will feature
local startups and community organizations that are contributing to
the overall growth and improvement of Greater Peoria’s economy and
quality of life. Additionally, various local food and drink
establishments will be serving samples to showcase the growing
cultural scene in the region.
“The concept of the GP Homecoming event has been in
the works for several years. To see our various organizations
collaborating so closely to make this event a reality is a
testament to a renewed sense of optimism and commitment to progress
across the region” says Jake Hamann, Executive Director of the
Peoria Innovation Alliance.
“A Greater Peoria homecoming event such as this is
an excellent opportunity for local organizations and entrepreneurs
to come together and showcase to our visiting family and friends
why central Illinois is an ideal location to live, work, and play,”
stated J.D. Dalfonso, President of the Peoria Area Convention &
Visitors Bureau. “This event will not only allow us to express our
pride for the Peoria area, but also highlight the accomplishments
we have earned here at home, which, in turn, will play a friendly
reminder to our guests that an incredible quality of life is
available here in the Greater Peoria region.”
Targeted at the 25-44 year old demographic, the
event aims to attract local alumni and past residents that might be
considering relocation due to an approaching significant life
event.
Brent Baker, Director of Workforce Solutions for the
Greater Peoria Economic Development Council says “GP Homecoming
provides an opportunity for us to reconnect with folks who are back
in town over the holiday to share why Greater Peoria is the best
place to start a family, start your own business, or invest your
talent.
Our region punches above its weight class when it
comes to quality of life and innovation, we want folks to see what
they’re missing,” states Audrey Kamm, YPGP / Peoria Area Chamber.
