ICC Art Program Hosts 2018 Portfolio Day Event for Area High School Juniors and Seniors January 26
Area high
school juniors and seniors are invited to showcase their original works of art
in a juried show for a chance to win prizes in the 2018 Illinois Central
College Art Portfolio Day, sponsored by the ICC Arts and Behavioral Sciences
Department Art Program.
Students may enter up to three
pieces of original artwork that have been completed within the past two years.
Both two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork will be accepted.
Two-dimensional artwork should be matted and must have proper wire or hooks for
hanging; no works will be accepted with wire or string taped to the back.
The Portfolio Day event takes place
January 26 from 3 pm to 5 pm in Gallery 131D, located in the Academic Building
on the East Peoria Campus. Students will be matched with an ICC art faculty
member, who will review and provide feedback on students’ portfolios. One piece
from each student will be chosen to be displayed in Gallery 131D.
All artwork chosen on January 26
will be displayed in the gallery from February 6 through March 2. A public
opening reception will be held in Gallery 131D on February 6 from 6:30 pm to 8
pm. At the reception, awards will be distributed for outstanding work from the
exhibit. Refreshments will be served, and attendees will be able to learn more
about the ICC art program, including tours of art classrooms and other galleries
on campus.
Artwork in the student portfolio
show must be displayed for the duration of the show and cannot be removed
before the show is taken down by the ICC Art Program. All students (or
teachers) are responsible for picking up students’ artwork on March 3, between
3:30 and 4:30 pm.
Information about the event
recently was mailed to area high school art teachers. Students interested in
participating should contact their art teachers to obtain an entry form.
