Chamber Leadership Academy Begins
The 20th edition of the R. David Tebben Community Leadership Academy began on January 11th, as 22 students met for the first session. In addition to a welcome and orientation, the students got to know each other through a speed-networking exercise. The 10-week program meets twice each week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
First held in 1999, the leadership academy was launched by the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce as a means to identify and develop future leaders for the chamber and other organizations in the community. The topics, speakers, and tours are all determined by a volunteer committee of leadership academy graduates.
UnityPoint Health and Pekin First Church of the Nazarene are both sponsors of the 2018 academy.
The program culminates with a graduation banquet in March.
