First Baptist Church Family Fall Festival and Ladies Christmas Tea

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH PEKIN had our very first FAMILY FALL FESTIVAL this past Saturday Oct. 14th.  We started off at 5pm sitting around the fire on hay bales roasting hot dogs followed by a short message from our new pastor, Pastor Vernon Risner. From 5:45-7pm we had our game time with a Cake Walk, Fall Photo Booth and a ton of fun with a pumpkin head bean bag toss, temporary tattoos, farmer browns grocery game, glow bowling and glow pumpkin ring toss.  We feel this was a great success and look forward to doing it again next Fall and hope the community will come out and enjoy all the fun with us!


We are gearing up for the Christmas season at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH with the Ladies Christmas Tea tickets on sale this week.  The Ladies Christmas Tea is a tradition which takes place on November 14th & 16th with doors opening at 6:00 pm.  It is a beautiful setting where ladies are pampered with fancy finger food, mouth-watering desserts, a superb speaker, and beautiful music to create a truly elegant evening to kick off the holiday season right.  If interested in purchasing tickets, please call the office at 309-347-5965.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
