D.A. Points to host AJGA tournament in Pekin, Illinois

Three-time PGA TOUR champion brings junior golf event to Pekin Country Club

The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) is pleased to announce that three-time PGA TOUR champion D.A. Points will host the inaugural D.A. Points Junior Championship sponsored by Pekin Insurance / UnityPoint Health in 2018. The 54-hole stroke play event will be held July 9-12 at Pekin Country Club in Pekin, Illinois, where 96 boys and girls from around the world will compete for the title.
“The AJGA provided me an opportunity to test my abilities against the best junior golfers across the country,” said Points. “It helped shape me into a PGA TOUR winner. It gives me great pleasure to host an amazing tournament at my home course, Pekin Country Club. My dream to have my name associated with an AJGA event is made possible by my oldest sponsor, Pekin Insurance. Along with UnityPoint Health, Pekin Insurance will put on a great tournament. Pekin Insurance has helped me achieve my life long dreams of playing on the PGA TOUR. Now, sponsoring this event, they will help juniors gain experience towards one day playing on the PGA TOUR.”
D.A. Points is a professional golfer who has recorded three wins on the PGA TOUR, including most recently at the 2017 Puerto Rico Open. Points competed in six AJGA tournaments during his junior career and was named a Rolex Junior All-American in three straight years from 1992-94.
Joining Points in supporting the event is Pekin Insurance and UnityPoint Health. The tournament will be played at Pekin Country Club, D.A. Points’ home course. Points grew up on No. 17 at the championship golf course and won a state title at nearby Pekin Community High School in 1994.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
