WIU Chamber Orchestra to Perform at Concert
The students of Western Illinois University Chamber Orchestra, will be performing on Friday, January 29 at 7:00p.m. in the Patricia Hackler Auditorium, Washington School, Pekin. The concert is free and open to the public.
The WIU Chamber Orchestra is currently under the direction of Dr. Richard Hughey, Director of Orchestral Activities at Western Illinois University. The fifteen-member orchestra performs various pieces of such composers as Georg Friedrich Händel, Carl Phillip Emmanuel Bach, Johann Sebastian Back, Paul Hindemith, Archangelo Corelli, Antonio Vivaldi and Georg Phillip Telemann and specializes in baroque performance practice. Dr. Hughey has been conducting the WIU Chamber Orchestra since 2008 and is a member The American String Teachers Association, The League of American Orchestras and the Council of Illinois Orchestras.
