Pekin Main Street's 5th Annual Super Cruise-In
Pekin Main Street anticipates over 800 antique/classic cars, trucks and bikes for their 5th annual Super Cruise on Saturday, July 25, 2009, from 3-9 p.m. along Court Street and around the Courthouse Square in historic downtown Pekin.
The public and any car club are invited to bring their antique/classic cars, trucks and bikes to the Cruise-In. Over eight downtown blocks will be closed and reserved for the display cars, including Court Street from 6th to 2nd Streets, Capitol from Court to St. Mary, and Elizabeth, from 5th to Capitol.
John Neumann, owner of Pekin Prescription Lab, will have the following cars on display along Capitol Street: 1929 Model T, 1965 Mustang, 2005 50th Anniversary T-Bucket, 1956 Austin Healy, 1959 Corvette, 1965 Corvette, 1978 25th Anniversary Corvette, 1992 Corvette, 2003 50th Anniversary Corvette and 2008 Pace Car.
The Midwest Cruisers Car Club has been participating in the Pekin Main Street Super Cruise since the event was established in 2005.
Mayor Rusty Dunn will present a Mayor’s Choice Award to one vehicle on display. A live band stage will be located on Court Street. Several food and auto vendors, beer tent and soda will be available for purchase. Admission and vehicle display is free.
Confirmed vendors include: Pekin Main Street selling Pork Chop Sandwiches, Haddad’s Restaurant, Pepsi soda stations, and Twisted Edge Custom Powder Coating.
The event is sponsored by Pekin Insurance and presented by Pekin Main Street. Proceeds from this event will be used to support Pekin Main Street’s mission of preserving, restoring and revitalizing the Downtown area.
