Taste of Africa

The Peoria Area World Affairs Council (PAWAC), the Illinois Central College (ICC) Culinary Institute, and the ICC International Education Program celebrate African cuisine with the special dinner program "Taste of Africa" on Thursday, March 2, 2017. The event begins at 5:30 PM at the Culinary Institute located in Dogwood Hall on the ICC - North campus.

"Taste of Africa" features a three-course meal specially made by students and staff of the Culinary Institute. Diners will receive copies of the North African cuisine selected and learn cooking techniques by watching the expert chefs prepare menu items throughout the evening. Tours of the Culinary Institute's state-of-the-art facilities are also available. The evening concludes with details of the many international programs available at Illinois Central College. This honors ICC's dinner two Fulbright scholars from Africa; Letshwiti Tutwane from Botswana and Nahed Shata from Egypt. They will be the featured speakers. In addition, Dr. Barbara Burton will briefly highlight the ICC international program.

Tickets are $35.00 for Peoria Area World Affairs Council members; $40.00 for the general public. The menu features both meat and vegetarian options. Online purchasing information is available via www.pawac.org. Seating is limited, so order today!

6:15 PM to 7:30 PM - Dinner with Exclusive Viewing of Meal Preparation
7:30 PM to 8:00 PM - Post Dinner Presentation by ICC's Fulbright Scholars from Egypt and Botswana, as well as Dr. Barbara Burton, Director of International Programs at ICC

All proceeds from "Taste of Africa" benefit ICC's Culinary Institute and international education programs and the Peoria Area World Affairs Council's education programs.
