Biz Lab Workshops are an entrepreneurial education program at Distillery Labs. In the photo pictured above, Natural Fiber Welding’s Chief Technology Officer, Aaron Amstutz, taught everyone how to innovate by deliberately “failing fast.”  Aaron divided the room into groups for experiential learning, and together, we all discovered many unique sandwich creations.  It was a memorable and impactful Biz Lab, as everyone can bring that approach to their work.

 

Additionally, on the 4th Thursday of every month, mentors and mentees meet up to work through the Start a Business in Greater Peoria program supported by mentors from the SBDC, SCORE, MBDC, GPEDC, and gener8tor. In Customer Development, mentees learn to segment who their customers are and create customer personas and value propositions.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
