IDOT Invites Residents and Businesses to Participate in Railroad Assessment Study

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is completing a Rail Needs Assessment Study. The purpose of the study was to identify rail improvements that are needed throughout the state. In support of this study, IDOT is hosting a virtual public event. The event will present information gathered throughout the study and provide information on the upcoming final report.

If you meet one of the following criteria, we encourage you to provide feedback through the attached link:

- Live near a railroad
- Work for an advocacy group
- Work for a railroad
- Work for a freight/shipper logistics industry
- Work for a government agency
- Work for a consulting firm or construction company
- Interested in railroad issues in the State of IL

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
