Lane closures, reductions on Illinois 29 set Aug. 13

The  Illinois Department of Transportation announces that lane closures and reductions in width along Illinois 29 at the Interstate 474 interchange will begin Monday, Aug. 13.

Northbound Illinois 29 will be reduced to one lane, and both southbound lanes will remain open but have their widths reduced. This is necessary to accommodate bridge painting crews, which are expected to take about three to four weeks to complete their work. All interchange ramps will remain open.  Bridge painting expected to last 3-4 weeks

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
