               Illinois Central College, along with local companies sponsoring apprentices, will host a signing event for the 12 students in the first cohort of the Industrial Maintenance Apprenticeship Program. Students will begin the earn-and-learn program August 20, 2018.
               ICC has partnered with the following companies providing apprenticeships: AECOM, ALCAST, Caterpillar Inc., and Morton Buildings.
               The partnering companies will provide the work experience to ensure professional skills upon completion, and ICC will provide the in-class training. The apprentices earn as they learn – receiving short, four-week blocks of coursework, followed by four weeks of on-the-job training to refine the skills they have acquired. Additionally, they will earn a guaranteed minimum hourly payment of $13, and the sponsoring company pays for full tuition, fees and books. All candidates were accepted into ICC and are selected to work with the companies through a pre-screening and interview process. At the successful completion of their program, students will receive an Associate in Applied Science degree in Mechatronics Technology.

Methodist Offers 10th Annual Grief Camp for Kids

Methodist Medical Center is accepting camp registrations for children age 5 to 18 who are working through issues of grief following the death of a loved one. Camp Courageous is a free one-day outing for 65 young people. The Methodist Hospice Program first established the camp in 2000 with a goal of providing a safe arena for kids to share their grief with others and to learn healthy ways of coping with their loss. This year’s camp will be held at Camp Manitoumi in rural Lowpoint on Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Buses will leave the Methodist Atrium Building (900 Main Street) at 8:00 a.m. and return by 5:00 p.m. The camp agenda will include games, face-painting, crafts, sports, and horseback riding. Performance will feature CIB professional dancers and guest dancers from around the country Central Illinois Ballet, in residence at Illinois Central College, presents four performances of the holiday classic The Nutcracker December 15, 16 and 17 in the Illinois Central College Performing Arts Center, located on the East Peoria Campus. This is the fourth consecutive year Central Illinois Ballet has presented this holiday classic. This year’s production boasts a cast of nearly 100 members ranging in age from 3 years old to adult. CIB has its first international dancer this season with Jiwon Ha of South Korea dancing the part of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Additionally, guest artists Adam Kittelberger and Ben Rabe from the Rochester City Ballet in New York will perform in the production. Both performed in past CIB performances.
