Traffic Pattern Changes, lane reductions on Shade-Lohmann Bridge

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that traffic patterns have changed on the Shade-Lohmann Bridge effective Tuesday, April 3.

The changes are necessary for crews to repaint the structure that carries eastbound Interstate 474/U.S. 24 over the Illinois River between Bartonville and Creve Coeur. On April 3, work will begin to shift eastbound traffic to the westbound bridge so that painting the eastbound structure can begin Thursday, April 5. I-474 will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the westbound bridge. Traffic will remain in this configuration until completion of the project, which is expected by early September.

Please slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and watch for changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment.
