Work on two I-155 ramps begins March 18

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that construction on two ramps to Interstate 155 in Morton begins March 18.

The work involves repairs to bridges on the ramp from Birchwood Street (Illinois 98) to northbound I-155 and the ramp from Main Street to southbound I-155. Both ramps will be closed during the project, which is expected to last until August. Marked detours will be posted.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
