Pekin Airport Ribbon Cutting

The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce joined with the City of Pekin for a ribbon cutting at the City of Pekin Municipal Airport.  The celebration was for the completion of several large projects in partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration.  The most recently completed project was the replacement of a large portion of the concrete runway.  In prior years the Airport also upgraded the lighting on the taxiway and runway.  These projects were all completed with only a 5% contribution from the City of Pekin.  The municipal airport is an important part of the regional transportation infrastructure. It is home to several businesses, and is used by local residents, visitors and businesses.  Chamber President Dan Pfeifer read a proclamation congratulating the City.  You can see more pictures from this event at:
