Illinois Central College Board Appoints Dave Mingus as New Trustee

The Illinois Central College Board of Trustees conducted an open process allowing interested residents to apply for its open board seat formerly occupied by Frank Mackaman.  The Board is pleased to announce Dave Mingus has been approved and seated at the July 2019 board meeting.
Mingus is active in our community and has served in a variety of important roles.  He’s most widely known for over 30 years of public service on the East Peoria City Council, including roles as mayor and commissioner.  He is currently the CEO of Tazwood Center for Wellness, a non-profit behavioral health care provider, and has served in this position since 2012.  Prior, he was Executive Director of Neighborhood House.  His educational experience includes serving as president of the East Peoria Grade School Board of Education, vice president of the East Peoria Community High School Board of Education, and dean of students at Eureka High School.  He currently serves on his church board and UnityPlace Board of Directors.
“I couldn’t be more pleased to have an experienced leader like Dave Mingus join our Board of Trustees,” said ICC President Dr. Sheila Quirk-Bailey.  “He brings to the table a great passion for our community, and is eager to help ICC with our mission of changing people’s lives.”
Mingus holds a master’s degree in counseling and human development from Bradley University, a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Eureka College, and an associate degree in general education from ICC.  He is a certified reciprocal alcohol and drug abuse counselor, a licensed clinical professional counselor, and an instructor at ICC.
“I have observed, firsthand, the benefits that ICC provides to this community and its residents.  ICC not only prepares individuals to advance to a four-year institution, but, just as importantly, helps them develop new skills to better their standing and achieve a living wage,” said Mingus.  “Illinois Central College has been very significant in my life and I appreciate the opportunity to give back.”
