Area Recycling Open House

PDC / Area Recycling celebrated their recent expansion and investment of $3.5 million into their facility on the south edge of Pekin with an open house, tours, and a ribbon cutting.  Matt Coulter served as the emcee for the event, and he introduced his father, Royal, as well as some of PDC's vendor partners, elected officials, and Dan Pfeifer, the President of the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.  Pfeifer read a proclamation outlining PDC's history and their investment in the Pekin facility.  He then proclaimed June 6, 2019 as Area Recycling Day in Pekin and encouraged residents and businesses to properly recognize the significance of the day.  You can see more pictures from this event at:  https://photos.app.goo.gl/qFmH92TjAzVnGZMh6

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
