I Run With Survivors Registration Now Open: The Center for Prevention of Abuse Hosts 5K Run/Walk in Honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month

In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month this April, The Center for Prevention of Abuse is hosting its inaugural 5K run/1 mile walk, I Run With Survivors, on 4/14 at the Levee District at 8:00 AM. Online registration is now open here.

The general admission fee is $30.  The registration fee for participants ages 17 and under is $15 and registration is free for children younger than three years old. All participants will receive a race day t-shirt and teal shoelaces, the color of sexual assault awareness, and are encouraged to wear both at the event.

New merchandise from The Center for Prevention of Abuse is available for purchase on the registration website and on race day.

“We are very proud to host our first 5K in honor of survivors of sexual assault this April,” said Carol Merna, Executive Director of The Center for Prevention of Abuse. “We want all survivors – ones who have come forward to disclose and ones who keep their abuse private – to know that our community supports them, The Center for Prevention of Abuse supports them, and most importantly, we believe them. Our services for sexual assault survivors are free and confidential and our crisis hotline is available 24 hours a day.”

Race day activities include speakers, photo opportunities at the “We Run Because…” banner, music from Mix 106.9, and refreshments following the race. Follow the event on Facebook here.

The Center for Prevention of Abuse’s I Run With Survivors is sponsored by Mix 106.9, Barkley Endodontics, Sports Corner & Creations, and CxT Roasting Company.
