Chambers Offer DC Fly-In

The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to work with other area chambers to promote this year's DC Fly-In.  The Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce is working with Congressman LaHood to provide an interesting and informative event in our nation's capitol.  Regardless of your political views or perspective, these trips are a great opportunity to network with regional leaders, and hear from our nation's leaders.

Download the flyer below for all the details.  Register and pay for the conference directly with the Peoria Chamber, and then book your travel and hotel on your own.  Registration deadline is April 14th.  You can contact the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce with any questions.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
