Pekin HR Forum

Pekin HR Forum is intended to be a Human Resources group serving the Pekin Business Community. We will focus on providing a setting to stay abreast of the latest HR topics and laws, opportunities to hear speakers on various topics important to our businesses, profession, and the community. This Forum will also provide an opportunity to network with fellow HR Professionals. It is my hope, that by creating this group it will give our local HR Professionals an opportunity to learn and grow professionally, and network closer to home. Our members will include HR Professionals at all levels, and any other business professionals performing HR functions.

I would like to establish this organization as a way to assist in the professional and personal development of the HR Professionals within our own community. My goal is for this to appeal to all levels of HR members and to provide real world suggestions and ideas for implementing in your workplace.

The Pekin HR Forum member luncheons will be held the second Thursday of the month, with the first one being held on March 10th at 11:30 a.m., at Avanti’s in Pekin.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Only high schools are eligible, but others can participate including teachers, family and school supporters. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
