SCORE Peoria Announces New Evening Workshops

SCORE Peoria will host two new series of workshops this Fall.  

In September, we will present Simple Steps for Growing Your Business, a 4-part series of workshops designed for small business owners and managers who want to reach the next level of growth and who are seeking assistance and direction in key areas of business management.  Topics covered include business assessment, goal setting, marketing and sales, financial management, and operations.  

And, in October, ICC Professor and SCORE Mentor Joe Gunther will lead a 4-session review and discussion of the best-selling business management and strategy book Good to Great by Jim Collins.  This will be an excellent opportunity for networking and discussion of ideas leading to growth and business improvement.

All workshops will be held on Wednesday evenings at the Fondulac District Library in East Peoria.  Additionally, all workshops are FREE, but registration is required.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
