Accelerated Rehabilitation Welcomed

Accelerated Rehabilitation Center was officially welcomed to the Pekin community at an April 9th ribbon
cutting.  Representatives from the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce joined with the staff for the  celebration, which was followed by an open house.

Accelerated Rehabilitation Center recently opened next to McDonald’s at 3289 Court Street.  They are a physical therapist owned and operated rehabilitation company, offering specialized physical therapy treatment and focus on excellent outcomes and patient care.  With a network of over 225 outpatient rehabilitation centers located throughout the Midwest and Arizona, Accelerated offers a wide range of programs and specialized services to help their patients restore and maintain physical strength, performance skills, and levels of function.

Michael Bennington, PT, is the facility manager in the Pekin office, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and by appointment.  Other staff include Eric Glow, PT is the Director of Clinical Operations for Central Illinois, Jill Lulay, Patient Care Advocate, and Shae Harris, Marketing.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
