Glass Specialty Blood Drive

Glass Specialty Company would like to invite you and your friends to join them in a Blood Drive with the American Red Cross. The blood drive will take place at the American Red Cross Blood Donation Center, 405 W John H. Gwynn Jr Ave, Peoria IL 61605. The event will be held Tuesday, March 6 from 11am to 6pm, and Wednesday, March 7 from 6:30am to 3pm.

On the days of the blood drive anyone that gives blood will receive Free Rock Chip Repairs as a gift for helping Glass Specialty give back to the community.

Who can give blood?

Be at least 17 years old or 16 with a signed Red Cross consent form in Illinois. If you way at least 110 pounds and are in good health, you may be eligible to give blood.

Glass Specialty is looking forward to two great days and to make this an ongoing partnership.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. The contest runs from October 1st through October 31st. “This has been a very successful campaign for us,” said Bob Parkhurst, Goodwill Vice President. “We are grateful for Bradfield’s Computer Supply’s donation of a SMART Board each year. That prize really heats up the competition among the high schools.” Donations of items other than clothing are encouraged, but only clothing will count toward the contest. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
