Transportation Committee Visits Chicago

Members of the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce's Transportation Committee visited Chicago on a fact-finding trip. They carpooled to Normal, where they took the Amtrak to Union Station in Chicago. While in Chicago they visited the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP). They hear a presentation on "Go To 2040," which is a comprehensive planning document for the Chicago region. The idea for the trip came from recent discussions about passenger rail in Central Illinois, and interests in how larger communities are planning for their transportation needs. Committee members who attended were: Bill Fleming, John Franks, Jim Jones, Rich Kriegsman, Tony Sassine, Deb Spencer, and chamber board member Renna Hadsall.
