The Community Foundation of Central Il Awards $5576 Grant

The Community Foundation of Central Illinois Awards $5576 Grant to Midwest Food Bank’s Innovative Tender Mercies Food Program.

The Community Foundation of Central Illinois is highlighting Midwest Food Bank’s innovative Tender Mercies Food program with a check presentation and tour of the facility. The media are invited to attend.

The Tender Mercies food product was developed at the Peoria Division of Midwest Food Bank in cooperation with the University of Illinois Soy Research Department.
Midwest Food Bank volunteers will be assembling the product and will offer tastings of the highly nutritious product that will be distributed to local non-profits in the Peoria area starting in August. The product is designed for easy preparation, is high in fiber and protein, and costs lest than .11 cents a serving to create.

WHO:
Larry Herman, Director, Midwest Food Bank, will present the Tender Mercies food program and product, offering tastings and a tour of the facility to attendees and media.

Melinda Anderson, University of Illinois, Soy Research Department, will present on their role in developing the product.

Susan Herman, Volunteer, Midwest Food Bank, will present on the volunteer role of creating the product.

Mark Roberts, CEO, Community Foundation of Central Illinois, will present the check to Midwest Food Bank
