CITYLINK PARATRANSIT VAN ADDED TO PEKIN BUS ROUTE SERVICE

On April 12, The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (CityLink) will begin providing service to qualified Americans with Disability Act (ADA) passengers on a demand-response basis. In cooperation with the City of Pekin, CityLink will provide a van to be used only by passengers in Pekin to get to their appointments as required by ADA.

Only certified passengers will be able to ride. Contact John Williams 309.679.8139 or Marcia Whitehead at 309.679.8183 to inquire about certification. Certified passengers can set up appointments one day in advance by calling MV Transportation directly at 1-877-808-5438 for door-to-door transportation to their destination.

This van was added to Pekin routes to alleviate the delayed deviated route previously used. Fixed-route service will remain the same.

Goodwill of Central Illinois will hold the 5th Annual Recycle Your Style Contest. High school students within Goodwill’s territory are encouraged to donate their used clothing. The high school that donates the most pounds of clothing will win a SMART Board donated by Bradfield’s Computer Supply. Methodist Offers Free Informational Heart Program

January 29, 2010 Methodist Medical Center is hosting a free “Coffee with the Doctor” on Saturday February 27, 2010 in observance of National Heart Month. Tahir Ilahi, M.D. of the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology will be making a presentation on “Cholesterol and Your Heart”. Registered Dietician Hannah Lee will also be on hand to demonstrate heart healthy meal preparation. “Coffee with the Doctor” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Methodist Medical Group Cardiology Conference Room at 112 NE.
